Experiencing a World of Yum!

The Plano CORE (Center of Restaurant Excellence) welcomed 14 interns this summer working with our Pizza Hut U.S., Pizza Hut International and KFC Global teams. Representing Finance, Marketing, Data Science, RIS, Operations and Development, these interns received an immersive experience in the day-to-day life of the business.

To kick off their experience with Yum!, interns participated in an orientation session to learn about the Yum! Brands Recipe for Growth, our company culture and working at the CORE. During their time with us, they attended coffee chats with leadership team members, a networking social with leaders, as well as a day volunteering at Minnie’s Food Pantry.

“What stands out most to me about my experience is the culture,” said William Golden, Finance intern from SMU. “My internship has been comprised of a three-part rotation with the strategy, business analytics, and financial planning and analytics teams. I immediately felt welcomed and supported on each of these teams. Everyone has been willing to answer questions and provide assistance.”

Coaches and buddies were assigned to support each intern in their specific role. Through formal and informal development opportunities, interns are set up for future career success.

“I have worked on many different parts of a project, which has taught me many skills I have not learned in school,” said Antonio Mendiola, Data Science intern from UT Dallas. “What I have learned during my time interning at Pizza Hut will be vital to my future career in the industry.”

Best wishes to our interns as they return to classes this fall!
