By: Danielle Burns, Digital Project Associate – BOOK IT!
Starting October 1, 2021, BOOK IT! will launch in more than 70,000 classrooms and 50,000 homeschools, allowing students to work toward meeting monthly reading goals in order to earn a Reading Award Certificate, which is good for one free Personal Pan Pizza® at participating Pizza Hut locations[1].
The BOOK IT! program was created in 1984 with the goal of motivating children to read by rewarding their reading accomplishments with praise, recognition, and pizza. The program is simple, flexible, fun, and free to use in classrooms and in homeschooling environments and currently reaches more than 14 million students through 37,000 PreK-6 grade schools annually.
For its 37th year, BOOK IT! will launch some exciting changes to the program. This year, the program is open to PreK classrooms and homeschooled students to encourage a love of reading among younger learners. PreK-6th grade classrooms (ages 4-12) are eligible for BOOK IT! and enrollment is still open for teachers and homeschool parents in our Digital program.
