Pizza Hut® Debuts Playable Flick Football Pizza Box

Pizza restaurant launches “Flick Football Challenge,” calling on fans to share their best “flicks” for chance to win free $5 Flavor Menu items

PLANO, TEXAS (August 29, 2016) – The best part of any pizza box is what’s inside. And now thanks to Pizza Hut, the outside of the box just got a whole lot more entertaining as well.

Pizza Hut, recognized as the pizza restaurant which serves and delivers more pizzas than any other pizza restaurant in the world, is introducing an all-new pizza box that features a playable Flick Football Field on top. Goal posts. Football triangles. Score card. Yes, yep, and you bet.

The box is available with purchase of any medium pizza, including a one-topping medium pizza off the Pizza Hut $5 Flavor Menu.

Pizza Hut debuted the $5 Flavor Menu earlier this year. The nationally-available menu features nine delicious items, including a medium one-topping pizza, eight bone-out WingStreet® Wings, 10 stuffed garlic knots, the Ultimate Hershey’s Chocolate Chip Cookie, a Hershey’s Triple Chocolate Brownie, Tuscani Pasta, a double order of breadsticks or flavor sticks and four 20-oz. beverages, for just $5 each when ordering two or more.

“We know our fans enjoy a little competition and we’re happy to provide a platform that lets them get in on the game in a whole new way while watching their favorite team,” said David Timm, chief marketing officer, Pizza Hut. “The box brings some excitement back to the classic Flick Football game, and we are proud to bring some entertainment to the table along with our $5 Flavor Menu.”

The game of Flick Football, also known as Paper Football, Finger Football, Chinese Football or Tabletop Football, has historically been played for fun. While that is the primary case in the Pizza Hut version, there also is something in it for those who are always up for a challenge.

Introducing the Pizza Hut “Flick Football Challenge,” a game that invites fans to share videos of their flick football abilities for a chance to win free pizza from the $5 Flavor Menu. Fans enter by posting videos of their Flick Football talents on Twitter, tagging @PizzaHut and using the hashtag #PizzaHutHut. Pizza Hut will select weekly winners based upon different challenges including longest flick, most consecutive made flicks, most creative flick, among others. Official rules of the “Flick Football Challenge Sweepstakes” can be found here.

The medium pizza can include one of the following ingredients: Pepperoni, Italian sausage, premium salami, classic meatball, slow-roasted ham, hardwood smoked bacon, grilled chicken, beef, seasoned pork, Mediterranean black olives, Peruvian cherry peppers, fresh mushrooms, fresh spinach, fresh red onions, fresh green bell peppers, sliced banana peppers, sweet pineapple, sliced jalapeño peppers, or diced roma tomatoes.

The Ultimate Hershey’s Chocolate Chip Cookie is cut into eight slices and is loaded with an average of 165 Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips per cookie, and the eight-inch Hershey’s Triple Chocolate Brownie is freshly baked with three types of genuine Hershey’s products including more than 100 chocolate chips.

Pizza Hut breadsticks, which is the restaurant’s most popular side item, are available as a double order as part of the $5 Flavor Menu in the following flavors: Original, Hut Favorite, Fiery Red Pepper, Toasted Cheddar, Toasted Parmesan, and Toasted Asiago.

WingStreet Wings are sauced with sweet buffalo, Hawaiian teriyaki, spicy garlic, garlic parmesan, honey bbq, buffalo mild, buffalo medium, or buffalo burnin’ hot or with a Cajun style or ranch dry rub.

As part of the $5 Flavor Menu, customers can order either the Meaty Marinara or Creamy Chicken Alfredo Tucsani Pasta or four 20-oz Pepsi products.

Pizza Hut was the first national pizza restaurant company to remove artificial flavors and colors from its core pizzas and will continue its commitment to quality food and service through removal of artificial preservatives from its cheese by the end of March 2017 and the removal of antibiotics important to human medicine from chicken for its pizzas by the end of March 2017. The pizza restaurant removed all BHA/BHT from its meats earlier this summer. Visit www.PizzaHut.com/RestaurantQuality to learn more.
